the plan

The ceremony

The Ceremony for our wedding will be happening on Saturday August 9th. Exact time line is TBD because we are waiting on the Jazz Festival line-up to come out, but we will be updating this website as soon as we know for sure. The ceremony site will be at The Observatory at Alta Lakes, about 13 miles from downtown Telluride. The Observatory is a gorgeous lakeside cabin located at 11,300 ft above sea level, nestled between Palmyra & Silver Peak in the San Juan mountains. If the elevation doesn't take your breath away, the views will. We will also be at the tail end of wildflower season, so fingers crossed that mother nature will give us a spectacular backdrop for the big day.

After the ceremony we will have food, drinks, games, crafts, and dancing. We are going for a family friendly, backyard wedding vibe that just so happens to be on top of a mountain. Tacos are definitely on the menu and we will be serving both cocktails and mocktails alike. If we are really lucky, and there isn't a fire ban, we will have a campfire with s'mores for dessert.

It is important to note, the venue has very limited parking. Additional guest parking can be found at the Alta Lakes Campgrounds or at the base of Hwy 145 and we will transport guests to the ceremony from there. At no time may parking inhibit other vehicular traffic as most roads in and out are still very active. We were told by our venue manager that the road up to the observatory does not require 4WD, however higher clearance vehicles are better. The road is unpaved and there is a shallow creek crossing at a certain point.

You know what they say, the rougher the roads, the better the views.

Jazz Fest Details

For our anniversary and birthdays, Parker and I have a tradition of celebrating by going to our local Jazz Club for a night of fine dining and live jazz. In 2023 we attended the Telluride Jazz Festival and it was such a magical experience that we wanted to share with all of you. The whole town comes out for a parade accented by art exhibits, jazz in the park, and late night soirees. And although it is a "world famous" event, it truly is more akin to a local town festival tucked into the San Juan Mountains.

The main stage is located in the Telluride Town Park with a plethora of food trucks available. You can leave and re-enter the grounds easily with your wristband, and best of all you can bring your favorite camping chair to lounge in as you sit back and enjoy the music! If you're traveling from out of state, don't worry, we will have plenty of extra camping chairs. Just let us know ahead of time.

DRess Code

Casual, comfortable, and low-key! We want everyone to feel relaxed and enjoy the fresh air and gorgeous mountain views. Think sundresses or a nice button up shirt, but no need for anything too formal. As stated in our Save the Dates, comfy shoes are highly recommended. The terrain at Alta Lakes is a little rocky in some areas and if you're travelling from sea level your feet may experience some swelling. The Bride herself is planning on wearing Converse All Stars and the Groom will be in a pair of nice Clarks hiking boots. A jacket or nice hoodie is also recommended. It may be the height of summer, but it can still get a little chilly at night in the high country.
